Anthony House

Deacon Pat for Website

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul continues to feel the loss of Deacon Patrick Logsdon. Deacon Pat was a faithful servant who brought tremendous love, care and compassion to his ministry. He made an indelible mark, not only on the many men who found the support they needed to turn their lives around and achieve independent living, but also on the many who volunteered and contributed to his mission.

Since Deacon Pat Logsdon’s death, the Vincentian leadership and the St. Vincent de Paul Board of Directors have spent countless hours to ensure this mission is not diminished.  We have agreed that without Deacon Pat, reopening Anthony House is not a viable option.

The decision is to expand our existing Dismas House program, which shares the mission, spirituality and vitality of Anthony House.  We have learned so much from Deacon Pat and the Anthony House model over the years.  Most of our Dismas House Counselors knew Deacon Pat well and draw on his teachings and experience to make the program at Dismas House even stronger and more successful.

Although this was an extremely difficult decision to make, we believe it is the best way for us to serve the community of returning citizens. If you have been a supporter of Anthony House, we ask you to put your faith in the combined experience of Deacon Pat and the counselors at Dismas House. Your continued support will ensure that Deacon Pat’s ministry continues. We would like to invite you to visit us at Dismas House and witness the good work.

Perhaps the greatest legacy that Deacon Pat gave us was his commitment to his ministry as he served at Anthony House for years. We recall the Beatitudes as a fitting tribute when we reflect on his passion for the men he served and the many he invited into this ministry.

The Beatitudes

“Blessed are the poor in spirit,

for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are they who mourn,

for they shall be comforted.

Blessed are the meek,

for they shall inherit the earth.

Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness,

for they shall be satisfied.

Blessed are the merciful,

for they shall obtain mercy.

Blessed are the pure of heart,

for they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers,

for they shall be called children of God.

Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness,

for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”

We will always remember him.
