Other Ways to Give

Every dollar helps one more Long Islander avoid hardship.

Donate to the Long Island Society of St. Vincent de Paul today. Your gift will go far in helping our neighbors in need as we use nearly 84% of all funds donated to support our programs. It’s only through the support of our generous benefactors that we are able to continue providing vital services that help families avoid homelessness, hunger, and many other hardships. Annually, we serve more than 200,000 people, right here on Long Island.

Here are a few ways that you can best support the Society of St. Vincent de Paul:

Become a Donor

You can support the work of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul with a check or credit card donation. Gifts of cash are tax-deductible, and the simplest, most common way of contributing. An individual can become a Monthly Donor, contributing to the Society monthly to provide ongoing support for families who are in need.

Make checks payable to:

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul
249 Broadway
Bethpage, NY 11714
Attention: Development Office

Commemorative Cards (Give In Honor or In Memory of a Loved One)

Pay tribute to someone special by giving a donation in their Honor or in their Memory. Make the occasion even more special by sending a card to them or their family, informing them of your gift. Memorial or tribute cards are available. Memorial and tribute gifts are published in the our newsletter: The Vincentian Way. Contact Taelor Nagle at (516)822-3132 or tnagle@svdpli.org for cards

Matching Gift Program (Double Your Gift)

You can double or triple the value of your contribution to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul if your employer has a matching gift program. Often, employers will match employee charitable contributions dollar for dollar! Simply contact your human resource manager to inquire about your company’s matching gift program. You will be directed to complete and submit a form with proof of your donation or to the company’s matching gift website.

Federated Campaign Donations (Payroll Deduction Gifts)

You can support the Society by signing up for automatic payroll deductions through one of these agencies:

State Employee Federated Appeal (SEFA) – for state employees.
St. Vincent de Paul State Agency Code: 65-00426

Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) – for federal employees.
St. Vincent de Paul Agency Code: 10905

Planned Gifts (Make a Gift for Posterity)

Bequests (Remember us in your will or trust.)
Including a gift to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in your will or living trust is one of the easiest ways to give a substantial gift for posterity.

It’s simple. Just include the following suggested language in your will or trust. I, (your full legal name) give and bequeath to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in the Diocese of Rockville Centre, a non-profit corporation established under the laws of the state of New York, written amount or percentage of the estate or description of property] for its unrestricted use and purpose.

The benefits of this type of gift are many, including:

  • Because your gift will be made after your lifetime, you can make changes as you see fit.
  • You can structure the gift to fit your needs.
  • Your estate gift is entitled to charitable deductions for the gifts full value, depending on your estate taxes.

Annuity’s (Receive Income for Life).
An annuity is generally an agreement in which you transfer cash or other assets to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in exchange for our promise to pay you a fixed income for life.

Life Insurance (Designate the Society as the beneficiary of a policy)
With a life insurance gift, you can give a large gift at little or no cost to yourself. Simply designate the Society of St. Vincent de Paul as the beneficiary of your policy. If need be, you can designate your closest living relative as the primary beneficiary and the Society as the secondary beneficiary.

Please contact the Society’s Development office to learn more about long-term giving options. We will provide you with general information on planned giving. Clothing, Furniture, Car or Boat

You’ve probably passed the signs of our Thrift Stores countless times, or seen one of our trucks out on the road collecting donations. Chances are, you probably haven’t given them much thought as you go about your day. But for many people on Long Island, our four Thrift Stores have become an important part of their lives. For some, struggling to make ends meet; the Society’s Thrift Stores are a place where they can find clothing, furniture, home goods, and other items at prices they can afford. For others, our Thrift Stores are a place where true bargains can be discovered.

Our Thrift Stores depend on the donation of gently used clothing, furniture, and household items to help people in need. With the high cost of living on Long Island and the growth of the working poor, people need an affordable alternative to help furnish their homes and clothe their families. St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Stores provide that alternative.

All revenue generated from sales is used to continue serving those in need throughout our community. Donations can be made directly to our Thrift Stores or through our recognizable green clothing bins that are located at over 235 sites, including supermarkets and parishes around Long Island.

Donate Points and Miles

You can donate earned points and miles to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul to help further our mission of aiding Long Islanders in need. Every major debit/credit card – Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover, has a program that allows you to earn points as you shop and miles as you fly.

We can use points to purchase:

  • Food for our pantries
  • Gas for our program vehicles
  • Raffles for our events
  • And much more!

We can use miles to puchase:

  • Tickets for regional and national meetings for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul
  • By providing miles to support these required meetings, you help ensure that more resources are preserved to aid Long Islanders.

So, think about it. As you shop, fly and live life as you normally do, you could be acquiring resources to help us feed, clothe, shelter, and care for our neighbors. If you have yet to sign up for point and miles earning programs, please visit the website of your card carriers and inquire about their programs.

For assistance and additional information about this giving opportunity, please contact Nora Aufiero at (516) 822-3132 or Naufiero@svdpli.org.
